The Iowa Economic Development Authority approved funding to four startups during its board meeting Friday morning, according to a news release.

The funding comes from two funds: The Demonstration Fund—which provides financial and technical assistance—to Iowa companies in the advanced manufacturing, biosciences and information technology industries; and the Proof of Commercial Relevance (POCR) Fund, which provides financial assistance to innovative businesses pursuing proof of commercial relevance and marketability of a technology.

According to the release, the four startups receiving funding were:

  • ECR Logic LLC. – $25,000 from the POCR for IP development, product refinement, market planning and market entry activities
  • MarryMyCity – $25,000 from the POCR to develop an e-commerce platform that allows for scalability across new markets
  • Time ReDesigned – $25,000 from the POCR for hiring key personnel, market planning and market entry activities.
  • WorkHound – $100,000 for marketing and product refinement.

Award recommendations are made by the Technology Commercialization Committee to the Iowa Economic Development Authority board for approval.
