Clay & Milk is a digital publication that covers Iowa’s tech, startup and entrepreneurial communities. Since our founding in 2016, our mission has remained the same: to cover and connect the Iowa entrepreneurial ecosystem, producing stories about the entrepreneurs, artists, startups and trends that are shaping the present and future of the state’s economy.
New and innovative endeavors happen every day throughout Iowa, often under the radar. Too often.

Geoff co-founded Clay & Milk in 2016 to help shine a light on Iowa’s startup communities. He’s also the founder and owner of Gravitate, a coworking space for freelancers, entrepreneurs and remote workers. Geoff also speaks at conferences, organizes events and has been helping tell the story of the Iowa startup community since 2009.
JAKE SLOBE
MANAGING EDITOR
Jake is a graduate from the University of Iowa. In addition to working for Clay & Milk, Jake also helps out around Gravitate Coworking. He has previously written for the Center for Global & Regional Environmental Research, Iowa Journalist and The Daily Iowan.
What’s with the name?
In order to build something you first have to form it (Clay) and then help it grow (Milk).
This applies to our venture, how you nurture a community, and the entrepreneurs, artists and others in the middle trying to build something.
