Techstars has posted two job-listings based in Des Moines, one for Managing Director and one for Program Manager, a sign that the organization plans to expand its operations to Iowa.
The job description for Managing Director states that they are looking for someone “who can lead our Accelerator and investment strategy for the Techstars Iowa program in Des Moines Iowa.”
Techstars is a worldwide network designed to help entrepreneurs succeed. The organization operates three different programs: Techstars Startup Programs, Techstars Mentorship-Driven Accelerator Programs and Techstars Corporate Innovation Partnerships.
Seedrankings.com, a site that ranks the top accelerators in the world, considers Techstars a “platinum” accelerator, ranking it one of the top seven of the country.
Several accelerators based in Iowa—Global Insurance Accelerator, Iowa Agritech Accelerator and Iowa Startup Accelerator—are part of the Global Accelerator Network, a network of respected accelerators around the world. The Global Accelerator Network was created by Techstars in 2010.
NextStep.io, Bawte and Speeko are all Iowa companies that have previously gone through Techstars programs outside the state.
