Startup Weekend Iowa City took place over the weekend but with a twist—the event was focused exclusively on building education and edtech startups.
More than 20 people showed up to participate in the 54-hour event Friday night before narrowing their pitches down to four business ideas to work on over the weekend.
On Sunday, afternoon, the four teams presented their final pitches to a panel of judges. Each team had six minutes to pitch their ideas, followed by a four-minute Q&A with the judges.
Here are the four teams that presented.
- Battle Stocks — teaches stock diversification strategies to students through the use of mobile gaming
- B Sharp — an application that provides interactive music lessons and individualized instructions
- The Fork — project-based curriculum where students can receive revenue from their projects
- BehaVioR — a VR behavior assessment platform
First place was given to B Sharp. Second Place was given to The Fork. And third place was given to BehaVioR.
